Highlights UK activities 2010: Cartoonists make the case for peace January 2010 saw the opening at St Martin-in-the-Fields in London of ‘Cartoons in Conflict’, a stunning exhibition of drawings by dozens of cartoonists from around the world. Focusing on the intractable theme of the Israel-Palestine conflict, the artists considered the tangled politics of the Middle East, the search for a lasting peace and the human suffering caused by recurrent violence. This drawing, by Michel Kichka, shows two (apparently Hebrew-speaking) zebras: Zebra 1: ‘My mother was white and my father was black.’ Zebra 2: ‘Mine were exactly the opposite.’ And below, a cartoon by Mexican cartoonist Darío (Castillejos Lázcares): Manage Cookie Preferences
